Toilet Cleaner Only Two Ingredients!

Do you like how I decorated this picture of the toilet?  I had the plain shot which I will share next, but thought better of showing the toilet here.  I mean look at it a Luau in the toilet! Sharing a tip today that I use when in a pinch.

I did frame it in museum mat anyway, might as well show the toilet in all of it's glory!  This is an 'After' shot.

All joking aside this is a job that has to be done around the house.  I've been gone quite a lot lately and one of mine has been neglected.  Perfect timing to show what a few ingredients can do.

Do you want to know what items you probably already have around the house can be used in a pinch?
I've begun to use it even with toilet cleaner in the cleaning closet. I can't stand the smells of those. Well, to be perfectly honest with you I can't stand the smell of one of the ingredients in this either.

I, me, Dolly, who buys in bulk so that I never, ever run out of needed things recently ran out of toilet cleaner.  Oh the horror!  Not really, I, in the 'olden' days used to do this so why not use it on this day.  I did and have several times recently.

INGREDIENTS

  • Baking Soda
  • White Vinegar (I can't stand the smell of vinegar!)
  • Optional Essential Oil of your choice.  I used Tea Tree Oil
This oil has great properties: It disinfects, is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.  It is a deodorizer, mold and mildew remover.  To name just a few.  It is a great anti pest repellent as well.  **warning it is not to be used around pregnant women, children or pet.  (I'd advise keeping them away while cleaning with it).  Otherwise it is a good to go to item to add for household jobs such as this and all purpose cleaning sprays.
  • I store mine in two quart jars in cleaning closet upstairs.  Downstairs I have the jug and bag in pantry to use.

DIRECTIONS

  • Flush toilet wait for it to fill back up with water
  • Sprinkle liberally baking soda around the sides as well as in the bottom of toilet bowl
  • Pour white vinegar around bowl and into bottom
  • Watch it bubble of course that is the fun part!
  • Let it sit, go do something else fun then in 10 minutes go back and brush.
  • Add Tea Tree Oil now.  I added about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon to mine.
  • wait 5 minutes
  • Brush scrub the stains all around and up under rim.  Bringing water/soda/vinegar/tea tree oil up onto brush as you scrub.  To this until you see toilet is clean.  It shouldn't take long.
  • Flush 1st time.
  • Flush 2nd time.
There you have it!  You should have a sparkling clean toilet!

BEFORE

Can't believe I'm sharing this but here it is in one of our upstairs baths
Awful pink/grey mold and rust deposits in bottom of bowl

Another shot
Gross!

It's hard to see but have added the baking soda and vinegar.
Bubbling now

Another shot

Still Bubbling

After scrubbing once first flush.

2nd quick scrub and flushing
Sparkling Clean!
Done!

I do keep these ingredients on hand so at any given time you have cleaners! Buy in bulk saves you time and money in the long run. You can tell I like simple and by now you know I like saving every penny I can.

How easy is that?
It sounds hard because this post is so simple I took to talking about it!
All you do is:

SPRINKLE
POUR
WAIT
ADD ESSENTIAL OIL (optional)
WAIT
SCRUB
FLUSH
SCRUB LIGHTLY
FLUSH
DONE!

**Note: I don't claim that this will clean built in impossible stains.  You know the stains that have been there for awhile that nothing seems to clean. It will however on a weekly cleaning basis clean well and if you clean yours daily it is a cinch to clean.

Friends
I want to thank you all for the prayers going up on behalf of my daughter and her husband!
They are improving and we are grateful
Some issues remain but everyday a good thing is just that a good thing!
God is so good!
