Strawberry Hill a David Austin Rose

I wanted to share with you some of the pictures that I have taken of the new, Strawberry Hill a David Austin Rose
It is new this year and quite small. I put it into a large clay pot and  propped it up with a tomato cage until I can put it in a permanent home. The color is just beautiful.

This is a shot of the small Geoff Hamilton

I hope you enjoyed your Strawberry Hill Tour.

  1. Dolly, your new rose is just beautiful! I have been meaning to plant some of the David Austin roses. I have been dealing with black spot on many of my roses this year. We even had to pull up 2 of our Knock-outs due to a fungus! I hope you haven't been dealing with any of this!

    1. Hey Jane,
I have and it is awful. The rain while good in some ways has harmed so many plants. Yes like you I have. I have rooted you a white rose like the one on the fence and when it looks like it is going to be healthy will bring it to you. It is small and iffy right now..I love the new flower baskets...You and Leo are quite the team!

  4. Dolly,
The blooms looked so big but I guess compared to the tea roses they are not.
    A lovely rose though.

    1. Hi Patricia,
The largest bloom is 3 1/2 wide so it is pretty large for the small bush. I compared it to my Tiffany Hybrid Tea and it has a larger bloom already. I bought David Austin this year and it was 6 inches tall in little 2" cubicle that they shipped it in. I can only imagine what this rose will do in time and planted in the right spot in the garden. We'll see though time will tell. Good to hear from you.

    1. Your gardens sound so very beautiful! I would love to see pictures when they are in bloom! I had to dig up so many Jackson and Perkins Roses because they just don't do well here even with tender loving care. Don't get me wrong there is nothing like a long stem tea rose and they are my favorite to look at but not to grow. It could be me but I can't get them to thrive. The Heirloom and David Austin Roses are fabulous. I love them. Yes they are more resilient to black spot. to answer your question. I can just imagine and smell your row of gardenias! Love Jasmine and wow you must have the most green thumb The Orchid Society! Nice to hear from you! Lady you are a fantastic gardener!
